Getting Married in Switzerland? What a Wedding Singer Costs and How It Works
If you are planning a wedding in Switzerland and English is your first language, live music can feel like one more thing to organise in a country whose rules you are still learning. It is simpler than you think. Here is what live singing costs, how a wedding day usually runs, and when you should book.
What does a wedding singer cost in Switzerland?
For professional live singing, couples here usually pay between CHF 900 and CHF 3,500, depending on how much of the day you want covered. These are my packages:
Pure Love – the ceremony, CHF 990
Live singing during your ceremony, up to five songs, with the entrance, the rings, the signing and the recessional all covered.
Modern Love – the apéro, CHF 1,290
Two hours of live music while your guests arrive, talk and celebrate.
Eternal Moments – ceremony and apéro, CHF 2,200
The two moments that matter most, with two personal songs learned just for you.
Forever – the whole day, from CHF 2,790
Ceremony, apéro and a set after dinner, including your first dance sung live rather than played from a recording.
Every package can be booked as a duo with Marco on acoustic and electric guitar: ceremony CHF 1,790, ceremony and apéro CHF 3,290, the whole day from CHF 4,490. For the evening, a full live band starts at CHF 5,900.
Travel is charged at CHF 1.35 per kilometre and is always shown in your quote. Sound equipment, backing tracks and a personal planning call are included.
How it works, step by step
1. You send me your date. Tell me the date, the venue and which parts of the day you would like music for. I reply personally, usually within two days.
2. You receive a quote. It is written for your day, not copied from a template, and it lists everything including travel.
3. We choose your songs together. In a call we go through the entrance, the rings, the signing, the recessional and, if you like, your first dance.
4. On the day I arrive early. I set up and do the soundcheck before your guests arrive, and I coordinate with your officiant or celebrant so the music fits the ceremony exactly.
Church, civil or a ceremony of your own?
All three work. In Switzerland the civil ceremony at the registry office is the legally binding one, and many couples add a church wedding or a free ceremony in a garden, a barn or by a lake. I sing at all of them and agree the details with whoever is leading the ceremony.
Songs and languages
I sing in English and German, and in Malay if you would like, the language of my family. My repertoire runs from soul and gentle ballads to pop, with Adele, Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Eva Cassidy and classics by Frank Sinatra among them. If your song is not in my repertoire, I learn it for you.
Not sure how your song will sound? Send it to me and I will record a short version, so you can hear it before you decide.
When should you book?
Saturdays between May and September are often taken 12 to 18 months in advance. If your date is set, it is worth asking early, even just to check whether it is still free.
